Laverde Artisan Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil – About Us
From Sicily
to your kitchen.
LAVERDE Artisan was founded to answer a single question: why is it so difficult to find genuinely exceptional Sicilian olive oil in London? The answer was not to look harder — it was to go directly to the source. And to bring it across, one harvest at a time, with the care it deserves.
The question that started everything.
Supermarket shelves are full of bottles making extravagant claims. Cold-pressed. Artisan. Extra virgin. But the provenance is vague, the harvest dates are missing, and the flavour — when compared to oil pressed from a specific grove in a specific region by a family who have been farming the same land for generations — is a pale imitation of the real thing.
We started LAVERDE Artisan to close that gap. Not to sell another bottle, but to bring the real thing home.
A family connection at the heart of Sicily.
LAVERDE Artisan was founded with a direct advantage no distributor or importer can manufacture: family access to multi-generation producers in the Caltanissetta region of Sicily — one of the island's most extraordinary and least-known agricultural landscapes.
The Caltanissetta interior is not the Sicily of postcards. There are no tourist crowds and no industrial olive farms. What there is, is ancient volcanic soil, wild hillsides, and families who have been pressing Biancolilla olives the same way for generations — not because it is fashionable, but because it is the only way they know.
Every bottle of LAVERDE extra virgin olive oil comes from these producers. Every jar of LAVERDE raw honey is harvested by beekeepers from the same region. When we say single-origin and family-produced, we mean it in the most literal sense possible.
The Biancolilla difference.
Not all Sicilian olive oil is the same. LAVERDE works exclusively with the Biancolilla variety — one of Sicily's most ancient cultivars, grown at altitude in the Caltanissetta hills.
Biancolilla produces an oil of distinctive character: elegant and complex, with notes of fresh green tomato, almond, and cut grass, and a clean finish with gentle pepper — the hallmark of high polyphenol content. It is harvested in November only, at the precise moment of optimal ripeness, and cold-pressed within hours of leaving the tree.
The result is an oil that is unmistakably Sicilian — and unmistakably alive.
The engineering of care.
Quality is not a marketing claim. It is a hundred small decisions made between the tree and the bottle — and each one matters. Here is how we make ours.
Olive oil: bottled against oxidation.
Oxidation is the silent enemy of every premium olive oil. From the moment a Biancolilla olive is picked, the clock begins. Ours travels from grove to traditional stone mill in under four hours, is cold-pressed below 27°C, and rests briefly in stainless steel before bottling. Our dark-glass bottles are engineered with a precise air-to-oil ratio — enough headspace for the oil to settle, not enough to compromise aroma. We do not compromise beauty for quality, but we will never compromise quality for beauty.
Honey: bottled cold, bottled artisan.
Our raw Sicilian honey is harvested and bottled artisanally — never heated, never filtered through industrial mesh that strips aroma compounds. Heat destroys what makes raw honey raw: the enzymes, the pollen trace, the floral complexity. Our honey leaves the hive and reaches your jar with all of it intact — exactly as the bees made it.
Black lentils: transported like pearls.
Our Villalba black lentils are heritage pulses — small, spherical, rare. Each shipment is moved under controlled humidity and temperature, from Sicily to London, to protect the integrity of every bean. Most lentils are commoditised — bagged and forgotten. Ours are treated as the beautiful pearls they are.
Coffee: roasted fresh, never warehoused.
Our Madrigal Colombian specialty coffee scores 83+ SCA — among the highest tiers of single-origin coffee in the market. We roast in small batches and ship fresh. Coffee is at its peak in the first weeks after roasting — never months, never years. We will not warehouse for shelf life what we cannot guarantee for flavour.
A community that sustains itself.
We work only with families and small estates we know personally. No anonymous co-operatives. No outsourced supply chains. No middlemen we cannot put a face to.
Every producer we partner with is paid fairly — not the market minimum, but what their work is worth. We refuse exploitation. We refuse the race to the cheapest source. A premium brand cannot exist on the back of underpaid hands.
That is the only way a community sustains itself across generations — and across borders. Our partners in Sicily and Colombia are not suppliers. They are the reason LAVERDE Artisan exists at all.
Artisan by design. Limited on purpose.
LAVERDE is an artisan brand by design, not by accident. Our olive oil is bottled from a single November harvest each year. Our honey is gathered from a finite number of hives. Our lentils are grown on small acreage. Our coffee is roasted in small batches.
We do not scale by diluting the source. We scale by inviting more London tables into the experience. When a product is out of stock, it is because we refused to stretch what made it special. Stock returns. Quality stays.
The LAVERDE standard.
Some brands have spent years chasing paperwork. We have spent ours building something simpler and harder: an end-to-end experience where every bottle, every jar and every box arrives with the integrity it left Sicily with — and every customer can talk to a real person when they need to.
That standard is built into every detail:
- Single-estate origin — one family, one region, traceable to the grove
- Biancolilla cultivar named — not a generic blend
- Harvest date — printed on every bottle, every season
- Cold-pressed protocol — pressed below 27°C, within four hours of harvest, at 900m altitude
- Customer service you can reach — by WhatsApp, by phone, by name
Quality you can taste. A story you can verify on the bottle itself. A team you can talk to when you need them. That is what we have chosen to build — and it is the experience we exist to deliver.
London responded in weeks.
LAVERDE launched in December 2025 — and London opened its doors, its kitchens, and its tables to us. Over 270 five-star Google Reviews followed in the first months. Not for a gimmick or a discount, but for quality. Real, verifiable, provenance-backed quality that Londoners recognised immediately.
That trust is the foundation everything we do is built on — and it is a commitment we renew every single day, with every bottle we press and every jar we fill.

What we believe.
The ingredients you cook with every day matter — not just for the flavour of your food, but for the farmers who produce them and the agricultural traditions they represent.
We believe provenance is not a luxury — it is the minimum standard that honest food should meet.
We believe responsible farming is non-negotiable — that quality, ethics and fair pay are the same thing.
We believe trust, once given, must be earned again every single day — through quality that never wavers and prices that never exclude.
And we believe the finest olive oil and honey in the world should not be locked away in specialist shops for special occasions. It should be in your kitchen, on your table, and in your everyday cooking.
That is what LAVERDE Artisan is for.
Questions, answered honestly.
What is the LAVERDE quality standard?
Our standard is end-to-end. Every bottle is single-estate Biancolilla from one family in Caltanissetta, Sicily — cold-pressed within four hours of harvest, dated on every bottle, at 900m altitude. Every jar of honey is bottled cold and unfiltered to preserve aroma and enzymes. Every shipment is engineered to protect freshness from Sicily to your kitchen. And when you need us, you talk to a real person — by WhatsApp, by phone, by name.
Why is your stock limited?
Because we refuse to dilute the source. Our olive oil comes from a single November harvest each year. Our honey is gathered from a finite number of hives. Our coffee is roasted in small batches. We scale by inviting more London tables — not by stretching the supply chain.
Where can I buy LAVERDE in person?
You can find LAVERDE at 30+ independent retailers across London — premium grocers, cafés and gourmet shops — and via Deliveroo for same-day delivery in Central London. WhatsApp us for your nearest stockist.
Do you deliver outside London?
Yes. We ship across the entire UK in 48–72 hours, direct via laverdeartisan.com.
What makes LAVERDE different from supermarket olive oil?
Supermarket extra virgin olive oil is typically a blend from multiple EU countries, with unknown harvest dates and unnamed cultivars. LAVERDE is single-estate Biancolilla from one family in Caltanissetta, Sicily — cold-pressed within four hours of harvest, dated on every bottle, and traceable to the grove.
How do you treat the producers behind your products?
We work only with families and small estates we know personally. Every producer is paid fairly — what their work is worth, not the market minimum. We refuse labour exploitation. A premium brand cannot exist on the back of underpaid hands.
Do you offer corporate or wedding gifts?
Yes. We curate bespoke gift sets for corporate clients, wedding favours and welcome packs — from small orders to 500+ units. WhatsApp us for custom pricing and timelines.
How should I store your products to preserve quality?
Olive oil: cupboard away from heat and direct light; use within six months of opening. Raw honey: room temperature, indefinitely shelf-stable — crystallisation is natural and reversible with a warm water bath. Coffee: sealed pouch, consume within four weeks of opening. Lentils: dry pantry storage.
London deserves to know these products.
We are ready for your home shelf.
