Madrigal Colombian Specialty Coffee — ★★ 2 Stars (Outstanding)

Madrigal Colombian Specialty Coffee — Great Taste 2026, 2 Stars, Guild of Fine Food
"Dark-roast beans and ground coffee. A lot of flavour packed into a smooth and silky mouthfeel with a lift at the end from a light acidity. Very well-balanced coffee." — Great Taste 2026 judges, table 2
"The grind aroma delivers on promise: chocolate and almond together with a herbal/lemon note. The cup smells sweet and fruity, with nectarine to mind — an enjoyable experience with green freshness and delicacy." — Great Taste 2026 judges, table 1
"The aroma presents with interesting tropical fruit characters, quite vibrant. The liquor aroma has red fruits, rose, lemon and hibiscus." — Great Taste 2026 judges, table 3

Villalba Black Lentils — ★ 1 Star

Villalba Black Lentils — Great Taste 2026, 1 Star, Guild of Fine Food
"These have retained their shape and texture well during cooking, and have lovely tender skins. Good, earthy flavour — the judges feel these are an excellent example of their type." — Great Taste 2026 judges, table 1
"Glossy black lentils, uniformly shaped and presented as a dry pulse. Once warmed, they have kept their shape, with a nutty earthiness and a good bite — a good product that would add substance to a sauce or salad." — Great Taste 2026 judges, table 3
"Good looking little lentils which have kept their shape admirably. The palate resilience is pleasing, and the relay of gently earthy, nutty flavours as suggested is certainly sound." — Great Taste 2026 judges, table 4

What do the Great Taste star levels mean?

One star means delicious, two stars means outstanding and is reached by fewer than 1 in 10 entries, and three stars means among the very best of their kind that year. Madrigal Colombian Specialty Coffee holds 2 stars from Great Taste 2026.

Who judges the Great British Food Awards?

The Great British Food Awards were launched in 2014 and are judged by a panel of chefs, food critics and industry figures including Raymond Blanc and William Sitwell. Entries are assessed across more than 60 categories before Gold, Silver, Bronze and Grand Champion titles are decided.

What's the difference between a "Finalist" and a "Winner" at the Great British Food Awards?

A Finalist has been shortlisted among the best-scoring entries in its category — only the top products reach this stage. Gold, Silver, Bronze and Grand Champion titles are then decided among finalists and announced at the Awards Ceremony. We only use the word "Winner" once a title has actually been confirmed.

How can I verify these awards are genuine?

The Great Taste awards link to their certificates and to our verified producer profile and product listings on the Guild of Fine Food's public directory at gff.co.uk.
